The Sarawak Women for Women Society (SWWS) is inviting women to a counselling course. The course covers counseling skills and a variety of issues affecting women, family and children.
SWWS is conducting this course with the aim of recruiting volunteers to run the Women’s Crisis Phoneline operated by the society. This course will particularly benefit those who want to help others who are facing problems. The course will be conducted in two phases, spanning over two weekends. The first phase is from 20-21 October 2012 at Kingwood Inn Kuching. Phase two will be held at a later date.
The course will be conducted by experienced facilitators in an interactive manner. Dr Ling How Kee, a founder member of SWWS, has been a trainer and resource person for the Society’s Crisis Phoneline since 1988. She is also Associate Professor in Social Work at UNIMAS, Samarahan. Gill Raja, also attached to UNIMAS, is a professionally qualified social worker who has years of experience in this field, both in Malaysia and the United Kingdom. Dr Angie Garet is a lecturer in Counseling with the Tun Abdul Razak Teacher Training Institute. Ms Ann Teo is a practising lawyer with experience in civil matters, including family matters.
There will be a minimal course fee of RM20. The course is partially sponsored by the Sarawak Women’s Bureau.
